After School for Elementary School Students
Beginning Fall 2021, we will offer a farm- and forest-based After School Program for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Our program begins August 23, 2021 and ends June 8, 2022. After School Hours are from school pick up until 6pm Monday through Friday. Wildflower/Belle Vie Farm provides transportation from your child's school to our farm. Register here. Monthly fee per child is $75 - $330. There is no additional charge for transportation.
Wildflower & Belle Vie Farm offer a unique After School Program: our 34 acres of farm and forest offer ample opportunity to reconnect with nature after a busy day at school, to play chase and freeze tag in wide open fields with the donkeys watching, to dig in the garden and eat a handful of strawberries and sorrel, and to have a bit of quiet in a beautiful setting. Students who come to our After School Program have a chance to re-energize and get homework completed so that family time can actually be family time!
We pick up from the following schools:
Frank Porter Graham
Chatham Grove Elementary
Woods Charter School
If you are interested in having your school included in our pick up schedule, simply complete the registration form and enter the name of your school in the "Other" field.
Our facilities are located at Belle Vie Farm in Chapel Hill. Students will spend their time in our shipping container facility, our post-and-beam barn, our pastures with the donkeys, goats, bunnies and chickens, and our forests with their never-ending supply of climbing trees, giant boulders to scale and secret forts to explore.
Students can whip up a culinary masterpiece in one of our kitchens, pour a goat's-milk soap bar, put on a play with friends, pick just the right greens for a delicious salad, plant (or eat!) some delicious sunflower microgreens, learn about caring for animals, sheering our pygora goats and feeding our chickens treats from the pastures.
They can also swing lazily in our many pod-swings and hammocks, cozy up with a book from our library, join a small group yoga class, spend the afternoon dabbling in our Art Studio/MakerSpace or sit with the bunnies in quiet solitude.
Students will have time to eat a snack from home when they arrive at the farm (ice cold water provided by us). Depending on the energy level of the students each day, after snack they may take a forest hike, read a book quietly in one of our hammocks or pod swings, hang out with the goats, donkeys or bunnies or visit the Makerspace/Art Studio. Each day will make time for homework completion, relaxation, physical activities (hikings, kickball, dodgeball, basketball, sandbox play, gardening, microgreen growing etc), animal visits and care and much more.
We will also offer (for an extra fee) classes taught by local artists, musicians, dancers and other talented folks.
